I was just married a couple weeks ago to Charles Darnay. The night before the marriage took place my father and I had a very heart warming discussion and he told me how he imagined me while he stayed locked up in the Bastille for the 18 years. It was a very lovely day and was happy to share it with my father and all of our closest friends that we cherish ever so dearly to our impulsing hearts. Charles and I traveled for our honeymoon. After we leave my father turns back to his old ways while he was in prison. He stays on his cobbler bench for 9 nine days, when I heard of this account it made me fearfully sad that my dearest father had to go through all of past misery for over a week. This was one of the happiest times of my life and I wanted my father to be just as happy with Charles and I. Mr. Lorry acts as an intervention to my father and explains a hypothetical situation that got the point across to my father. While my father took a walk Mr. Lorry went a seized all of the shoe making tools and the bench to make sure my father didn;t go back to his terrible state. What a great couple of weeks!
Sunday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mr. Lorry came over as always to go on our afternoon stroll and to keep each others company and the fine day. Soho was very pleasant this time of year. The air flowed freely through the street due to the lack of houses that occupied the street. Peach trees grew against many of the buildings that did occupy Oxford Road. The businesses downstairs of the apartment stayed very quiet as usual keeping the shaded scene at that time in the day very peaceful and suitable to be in. This Sunday I could hear the church organs in the building behind ours, the sweet noises just added immensely to the peacefulness. When I came home to Mr. Lorry talking to Miss Pross it was a great surprise because I had forgotten all about his visit earlier in the day. I am sure my father was quite joyed by Mr. Lorry visit as well. The rest of the day went very nicely I am delighted to report to you all!
I know it has been a very long time since I have written to you. I witnessed Mr Charles Darnay in court a few days ago. He escaped the death penalty, which is very exciting news. Mr. Stryver represented Charles Darnay very well and gave excellent points to why Darnay should be set free from the Bastille These past years my father has been very happy compared to what he was like when I first met him with Mr. Lorry above the Defarge wine shop. Afterward,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Charles Darnay kissed my hand, I believe we have an attraction to each other. After a stressful day in the courtroom it was nice to have this comforting and relaxed feeling. Overall today was interesting and exciting!
Mr. Lorry and I traveled to a wine shop,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], upon our arrival a flask of wine had been spilt covering the cobblestone ground. The hungry people who had been working all stopped to feed themselves. It was a very sad sight! After we entered the wine shop I was introduced to the owner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who seemed quite upset about the wine spill I must add,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and a few other men who were accompanying us inside the shop. After the owner introduced his wife to the gentlemen, he led us to a small courtyard just outside the wine shop. A lengthy staircase awaited us. It led to the very top of the building where I saw my father for the first time. He was busy making shoes and had no recollection of my existence. My hair must have reminded him of my mother since he was intrigued by the locks. My father was very traumatized it seems by being imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years. It was very heartbreaking to witness my father in that state. I do not wish to discuss this matter anymore.
Ihad been traveling for quite some time now to Dover, England. Miss Pross is accompanied me to talk to a man from Tellson Bank named Mr. Lorry. Eventually,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I arrived at the Royal George Hotel in Dover where I was escortedto a dark and gloomy room. I then lit a few candles which illuminated the room reasonably. I told the man to inform Mr. Lorry of my arrival. I waited several minutes for Mr. Lorry to appear for our meeting. I still had not taken my traveling cloak off and was still holding my hat by the ribbons when the man walked in. I felt very confused on my we had to talk at that moment in time and not earlier in my life. Yet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], at the same time I was in a very curious state-of-mind since I still did not know what we were to discuss at that specificpoint in time. I asked him to sit down in the available chair. Doing this let myFrench orgins shine through,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], eventhough Mr. Lorry already knows my history. Mr. Lorry was hesitant to tell me the breath taking news. Finally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he let the secret out. As the meeting went on I came to find out he knows more about my family history than I do! This was extremely unexpected to hear the news that my father was alive. It was too much to handle for one conversation!
