"We have it in cargo shorts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], button-downs and sweaters that have plaid lining. We even have plaid boxer shorts. They're always fun."
The way Beckenbach sees it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], men seem to like the fact that plaids include lots of colours that are easy to mix and match with other garments they already own. American Eagle's plaids include lots of baby blues and yellows,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], along with darker blues and browns.
At the Lacoste boutique at Ogilvy's "reversible plaid jackets are selling amazingly well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said manager Sylvain Sauve.
They're plaid on one side and solid on the other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], waterproof side.
Other plaid items for spring and summer include little fitted dress shirts in both short sleeves and long, and Bermuda shorts that are cut to the knee -- "They're fashion-forward and amazing for golf,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Sauve said.
As far as Archie Etcovitch is concerned,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], plaid is back for a reason. "It's more adventurous,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said the vice-president of product development for Report Collection.
"When a guy is wearing plaid, he definitely doesn't care so much what other people think. He's saying, 'Hey, I'm a little different. Look at me.' "
Report Collection's Spring 2007 collection featured a crinkled cotton plaid shirt in aqua hues,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"It's got a trendy fit," he said. "With a higher armhole and shorter in the length,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's meant to be worn outside of the pants."
Etcovitch figures plaid is here to stay -- with a few adjustments. "If I look at our plaids for this fall, I'm seeing more muted plaids and more overdyed. But at the moment, everyone's fed up with wearing dark,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sombre colours."
