HCL Tech warns of lower sales,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
HCL Technologies Ltd is likely to report a drop in its sales and profits for next two quarters as the company continues to rationalise its client base,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Chief Financial Officer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mr Arun Duggal, told analysts in a post-earnings call.
"While this (client rationalisation) will result in lower overall growth rate in the next two quarters,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it will lead to a more robust business in the long term,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],'' he said.
The company reported a lower-than expected net profit in its July-September or its first quarter said that the fall was due to planned reduction of smaller clients,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
However, Mr Duggal said that the benefits of client rationalisation is likely to accrue after two-three quarters when larger clients are likely to ramp up enough to offset the loss from smaller clients.
HCL,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that currently services 349 customers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], added 20 new clients such as Australia's National Foods Ltd and the US-based GERS Retail Systems in its first quarter and stopped writing codes for 33 existing clients.
The company's joint venture with Deutsche Bank AG posted Rs 7.87 crore net profit, up 18 per cent from the fourth quarter.
