Fun rapids and good surfing waves are found on this run. The river is pool drop with some long rock gardens that can be seen from the road. The last 5.5 miles of the run are in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Some of the land is private and posted. Do not land or stop for lunch on private land. Some of the rapids can be scouted during the shuttle. The rapids 0.3 mile above the take-out is the most difficult; scout or portage river left. Scout or portage the dam at the Klickitat Mill on the right. Another difficult drop is about 1 mile below the Pitt Bridge; scout or portage left.
